Since it’s chartering in 1980, the Tri-City (MI) Chapter has implemented programs aligned with the National office, collaborated with community organizations to provide programs and services, and financially supported local, national and global initiatives. A few of the programs are shared here.
Programs for the 21st Century
Since 2000, the Tri-City (MI) Links have implemented the following programs
- Sankofa: Visiting our past to prepare for our future - 2017 - present
- Helping Our Children Succeed with STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) at First Ward Community Center, Saginaw, Michigan – 2014 to present
- Introduced The Beginning Strings Program to the Great Lakes Bay Region, 2011 - present
- Collaboration with the United Way of Saginaw County to bring the Imagination Library to Saginaw County - 2011 - present
- Weekly reading program at Houghton Elementary School in Saginaw and the Midland Shelter House for pre-schoolers to improve literacy skills – 2010 - present
- After-school literacy program at Houghton School for 3rd and 4th grade girls highlighting the contributions and achievements of noted African-American women – 2010 - present
- The Arts on the Move: Link Sisters in Cinema with students at Willie Thompson Middle School, 2010
- Links to Success Signature Program: Children Achieving Excellence at Coulter Elementary, Saginaw, Michigan, 1999
